“Origins”, recounts the lives and experiences of individuals who’ve been stolen from their homeland (Africa, in this instance) and forced to travel to the Americas to become slaves in the 15th century. Despite their trials, they are reminded to rely on God to persevere. It's through their faith that they receive true liberty. The experiences depicted by The Freedom Journals are seldom expressed and less heralded by the general public. The Freedom Journals' musical score is led and directed by Jennifer Ancrum; the dramatic interpretation is written and directed by Aletra Geddis.
