The Freedom Journals Performances

Rock Hill Theatre and the Music & Worship Arts Ministry of Hermon Presbyterian Church, USA present The Freedom Journals: Where the Spirituals Come to Life. The Freedom Journals is an annual production; this is Hermon's 5th installment.

[ THIS WILL BE A FREE LIVE STREAM PERFORMANCE! ]

This year’s journal, Tales from the Underground, recounts the lives and experiences of individuals on the plantation - experiences less heralded by the general public. Despite their trials, they receive revelation - they must rely on God to persevere. It's through their faith that they receive true liberty. Their trials led them to join the Underground Railroad, a network of safe houses that ushered many slaves to freedom.

The Freedom Journals' musical score is led and directed by Jennifer Ancrum.
The dramatic interpretation was written and directed by Aletra Geddis.
